Hello, I'm Kathleen Birmingham.

Author, freelance writer, ghostwriter, editor, and story lover...

My specialty is personal story...which includes everything from telling your story for business in the form of case studies, blogs, newsletters, books/memoir, to developing targeted website content for  your business. Everyone's story is unique. We work together to create the story that you need to tell.

Story makes us human; story makes us alive. Without the tradition of passing down story, we would not survive.

My job is to help you find your story and tell it in as compelling a way as possible.

To get you started, check out my short book on why any Small Biz Owner or Entrepreneur should write their own book.  It's only $1.99 on Kindle right now!

A story not told is easily forgotten.
A story, told, becomes our strength and our future.

It goes without saying, our dogs are part of our family.

In my latest contribution to Chicken Soup for the Soul books, "The Reluctant Volunteer" relates my experience with one very, very special Search-and-Rescue dog, a German Shepherd named Sadie.

Chicken Soup for the Soul: My Very Good, Very Bad Dog talks about the good, the bad, and the ugly of our delightful pets:

"Our dogs come in all shapes, sizes, and personalities.

From goofy to guard, from hero to ham, and everywhere in between, our dogs are important and beloved members of our families. they can be so good, and then they can be not-so-good, but boy do they give us great stories!

Chicken Soup for the Soul: My Very Good, Very Bad Dog will have readers of all breeds laughing, commiserating, and maybe even shedding a tear.

These 101 heartwarming, humorous, and completely true stories about our canine companions are sure to touch every dog lover’s soul.

Perfect for “man’s best friend’s” best friend."

Forgiveness takes guts. I learned that sometimes we have to forgive others even if we don't think they did anything wrong. Yet, they still ask our forgiveness.

One of the most powerful lessons of my life is contained in Chicken Soup for the Soul: The Power of Forgiveness.

From Chicken Soup for the Soul.com:

"Forgiveness frees us to get on with our lives! We can all benefit from letting go of our anger. Whether it's forgiving a major wrong or a minor blunder, forgiving someone is healing and frees you to move on with your life. You don't have to forget or condone what happened, but letting go of your anger improves your wellbeing and repairs relationships.

You will be inspired to change your life through the power of forgiveness as you read the 101 stories in this book about forgiving others, changing your attitude, healing and compassion."

Our cats make us smile every day with their crazy antics and acts of love. This book is full of hilarious and heartwarming stories about our feline friends that surprise us and charm us.

Chicken Soup for the Soul: The Cat Did What? will have you saying just that, as you read these 101 amazing stories about the absurdities, mischief, miracles, and magic our cats bring to our lives.

Whether humorous or serious, or both, these stories will make you laugh and warm your heart.

And in this book, on page 83, is my own heartwarming story of how we rescued our second and third kitties. My children played a huge role in this particular story. With a growing family and children with hearts as big as the world, we ended up with two kitties we never intended to have.

This pretty much set us up on our own journey to "saving" animals one at a time by bringing them into our homes. Be prepared to see quite a few more stories about animals we have saved and how they have impacted our lives.

My first book signing for this book will take place with our very own Honeywell Wine Club on September 26, 2014 at St. Francis at Camelback and 3rd Street from 6 - 8 pm. (St. Francis- 111 e. Camelback Rd. - Phoenix, AZ 85012 - 602.200.8111 ) Books will be available at $15.00 each.

Permission To Dream

What’s your dream?

If you could be anything, what would you be? Are you afraid to share it? Worried someone will laugh and make fun of you? You are not alone. “Your son will be the leader of a gang and dead by the time he’s sixteen. You might as well give up on him.”

These are the words my mother heard at my 6th grade parent-teacher conference. At the age of twelve, my potential had already been limited.

Like so many other young people in this world, I was faced with a decision.

My choice was to either surrender to the opinions and expectations of others or I could tap into my passions and follow my dreams.

This book is my story on how I went from a little boy with no hope, to a determined young man receiving a full athletic scholarship.

I want to remind you . . . you have Permission to Dream. Thomas R. Williams

Jim Toner is "The Wolf" when it comes to teaching entrepreneurs about starting a business, or turning their business around if it's facing problems.

Jim and I have worked together (Jim frantically writing, me editing...equally frantic) to produce his most recently published book, Send in the Wolf, that provides enough information to save the average business owner hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Finally, a real world, in-the-trenches Entrepreneurial Survival Guide! With over 50% of businesses failing within the first few years, being armed to the teeth is no longer an option but a necessity. Send in the Wolf provides the priceless answers to the business puzzle. Cash flow, sales, marketing, employees, legal, and much more are not only discussed and dissected, but the battle plan is laid out for you. If you have had enough with "just surviving" then this book is a MUST HAVE. Break away from the "also-rans" and join the Wolf Pack.

Send in the Wolf is where the money is.

Congratulations to Jim Toner on his second book in three years!

Please consider reading my client's book, Always Picked Last.

Kevin Kearns is a world-renown MMA trainer who was bullied as a kid.

He turned his love of martial arts into a life-long passion and in doing so, became one of the first people world-class athletes call when they need help.

Kevin went from Always Picked Last  to first pick because he followed his dream.

Just a few months after publishing this book, Kevin has been approached by a sports publisher to work on his next book!

Sometimes all you need to do is demonstrate that you CAN finish a book to have people stand up and take notice.
